Before and After Laser Treatments

BEFORE YOUR PROCEDURE

Please discontinue tetracycline (and others drugs of that class) 3 to 4 weeks prior to your treatment. Please be aware that there are other drugs that may cause photosensitivity (increasing the incidence of a sun burn). Drugs such as Fluoroquinolones, sulfa drugs, certain diuretics (“water pills”), and a number of over the counter (OTC) drugs and some supplements (i.e. St. John’s wart) are also linked to photosensitivity. If you are taking any of these drugs listed, please consult with your health care provider prior to your consultation.

Please avoid: Tanning, taking Accutane (for 6 to 9 months), and exfoliant use including but not limited to Retin-A and like products and alpha/beta hydroxy acids.

If you have a history of oral Herpes, please pre-treat with anti-viral 2 to 3 days prior to treatment.

AFTER LASER GENESIS PROCEDURE

After laser genesis you may have redness, mild swelling, and itching for up to 48 hours post treatment. You may apply a cool compress. Avoid direct sunlight and please use sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher.

Do not apply make-up until redness has subsided. Avoid hot showers for at least 24 to 48 hours. Use cool water and gentle cleansers for 24 to 72 hours post treatment.

Follow up treatments should be scheduled every 2 to 6 weeks.
